RMI Pricing and Payment Policy

Effective Date: July 6, 2016

At RMI Auto Detail Shop in Ogden, Utah, we're dedicated to delivering top-tier vehicle and boat detailing services with transparency and fairness. To protect our small business from payment disputes, lawsuits, and judgments while complying with Utah law (including repairman's liens on personal property per Utah Code Ann. § 38-10-101 et seq.), this policy outlines our procedures for estimates, agreements, and payments. We've transitioned from relying solely on verbal agreements to include simple documentation for everyone's protection.

1. Estimates Are Preliminary

Phone or initial verbal quotes are non-binding estimates based on limited details provided. Actual costs may increase upon in-person inspection due to unforeseen issues (e.g., deeper contamination or additional time/materials needed). We're committed to transparency but cannot be held to phone quotes.

2. Agreement Process

Upon drop-off, our team will conduct a walkthrough inspection and verbally discuss the updated estimate, noting any differences from the initial quote. To confirm your verbal acknowledgment and agreement:

  • You must sign a simple one-page Work Authorization Form before work begins. This form lists the estimated total, services, and a summary of this policy.

  • Your signature authorizes the work to proceed—no services start without it. This documentation replaces verbal agreements alone and serves as clear proof of consent.

3. Final Billing

The final invoice reflects the actual services completed. Any adjustments exceeding 10% of the estimate require your prior written approval on the form. At pickup, no negotiations, lowballing, or disputes are permitted; payment is due as agreed.

4. Payment Terms

Full payment is required at pickup via cash, card, or certified check. Vehicles or boats left unpaid beyond 24 hours will incur a $50 daily storage fee.

5. Non-Payment Protections

Failure to pay grants us a statutory repairman's lien, allowing us to retain the item until full payment (including any fees). We may pursue enforcement through legal action, such as lien foreclosure, court judgments, and recovery of costs/attorney fees. By signing the form, you agree to these remedies.

6. Dispute Resolution

Submit any concerns in writing within 24 hours of invoicing. Payment obligations remain due during review. All disputes are governed by Utah law in Weber County courts.

By dropping off your vehicle or boat, you agree to these terms. This policy ensures we can continue providing quality service while standing strong against bad-faith disputes. Have questions? Reach us at 385-240-0886 before starting.
